Get the GuideAcross the state of Texas, the month of October is known as Texas Wine Month, a 31-day celebration of Texas wines and the Texas Wine Industry. As the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the United States, Texas continues to reach new heights. As the epicenter of Texas wine culture, Grapevine is home to the Urban Wine Trail, hosts GrapeFest® - A Texas Wine Experience, the Largest Wine Festival in the Southwest, each year, along with the New Vintage Wineries & Galleries Trail and is also the location for the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association's annual Lone Star International Wine Competition.
There are about 450 wine producers in Texas and nearly 1,500 acres of vineyards, according to the Texas Wine & Grape Growers Association.
The state’s size and geography allow growers to choose among more than 50 grape varieties in the Lone Star State, as the Texas wine industry creates 141,235 full-time jobs across the state.
The Texas wine industry contributes more than $20 billion of economic value to the state and more than 2 million tourist visits to Texas wineries each year.
